Arists’ Statement
Voice
In my work, dimensions of contradictory forces are always at play. Thoughtful harmonic division of space, as the anchoring device, and seeming randomness of free movement, right-hemisphere, spatial, intuitive, relational, as the catalyst. I use this interaction of the one with the other, as a method to entice the observer to suspend, at least momentarily, the need to “understand” in the world and succumb to this interrelational dialogue without words. I interpret symbols and expressions, and express the human form metaphorically.
Vision
A free calligraphic line is an important element in my work, symbolizing a natural flow and process, communication, spiritual illumination, and the movement between levels of consciousness. Movement is important. I perceive space as a living organism which is, and is becoming, all at once.
Craftsmanship
There is a conceptual evolution to many paintings, each layer representing a complete concept, each a complete painting. For example, “Lunar”, which gave birth to “Nebula”.
Nebula, the birthplace of stars, was thus painted right upon the foundation of Lunar.
MPCOA, (most probable course or cause of action) likewise, became Running Man.
I feel a finished piece should take on a life, and voice, of it’s own. I look and listen for this in the process, after a certain point. It begins as my concept, my voice, my process. But, if it doesn’t become capable of free, transformative, interaction with the viewer, it is a one sided dialog. The process necessarily includes “Oh!” moments for both the artist and the viewer.
I sincerely thank you for visiting!
